The battle of Thessaloniki

As I write this, riots, violence and a strike to boot are crippling the nation after a policeman accidentally killed a 15-year-old in Athens. His death opened a Pandora’s Box of anger from youth and members of anarchist groups who threw firebombs at police, and wreaked havoc in more than 10 cities across the nation. Damage to businesses in Athens alone is estimated at 200 million euros ($259 million), with 565 shops seriously damaged. Groups of protesters have continued to throw rocks at police. There is word that more could follow.
Where did this backlash come from? Greece, the hearth of democracy, Olympic Games and hot tempers is surely a breeding ground for intense debates over ouzo or Greek coffee, take your pick. My generation is known for its school takeovers over educational reforms. Protests and strikes are a way of life there.

what else is there

Most people are other people. Their thoughts are someone elses opinions, their lives a mimicry, their passions a quotation.

watch her disappear

Last night I dreamed that I was dreaming of you
And from a window across the lawn I watched you undress
Wearing your sunset of purple tightly woven around your hair
That rose in strangled ebony curls
Moving in a yellow bedroom light
The air is wet with sound
The faraway yelping of a wounded dog
And the ground is drinking a slow faucet leak
Your house is so soft and fading as it soaks the black summer heat
A light goes on and the door opens
And a yellow cat runs out on the stream of hall light and into the yard

A wooden cherry scent is faintly breathing the air
I hear your champagne laugh
You wear two lavender orchids
One in your hair and one on your hip
A string of yellow carnival lights comes on with the dusk
Circling the lake with a slowly dipping halo
And I hear a banjo tango

And you dance into the shadow of a black poplar tree
And I watched you as you disappeared
I watched you as you disappeared
I watched you as you disappeared

Kingsleys Crossing- a stunning journey

Kingsley's Crossing is the story of one man's willingness to abandon everything - his family, his country, and his friends - in the hopes of finding a better life abroad. Award-winning French photojournalist Olivier Jobard documents the passage.

In Kingsley's Crossing, a 23-year-old lifeguard from the impoverished town of Limbe, Cameroon, dreams of a better life in Europe. He embarks on a harrowing journey that takes him halfway across Africa.
"Most families in my country want their children to go to Europe," Kingsley says. It is in Europe - the new El Dorado - that African immigrants can vastly increase their incomes while also providing for their families back home. So, in May of 2004, Kingsley left Cameroon on what he calls "his mission." What followed was an excruciating six-month journey across half of Africa.

Theater

photographed in a theater play of blind people together with young actors where I worked as a support for the blind.
I made the pictures with a canon (made in the year 1978) and destroyed the film mistakenly abit during the darkroom process.
